Chemical Chords Focus Statement

Chemical Chords is just my working title for our project, until we come up with something different. I had a writing fit yesterday and could not stop my fingers from frantically typing a lot of stuff for the CC Game System.

Game Focus Statement
Chemical Chords is intended to be an educational game, allowing the player to portray a musician at the start of his carreer. This character is created and customized by the player, because the player should be totally immersed into the game experience by being able to identify with his character.

The game has no finite goal, but serves as a virtual stage for the player. What is needed for the character to become a successful, renowned artist? Chemical Chords does not concern itself with really learning a musical instrument, but tries to foster the interest in music, and experience the troubles an upstart artist might get in.

Chemical Chords Mindmap
I'll also attach a first mind map showing what traits a game character might possess. I will explain what Talents, Challenges and Skills are at a later point in future (probably tomorrow).

Take care,
Georg

Broken Ape

Welcome to the Ape Show, Folks!

Starting today, we are working on a Serious Game for our course Game-Based Learning. Before even thinking about our team name, we already came up with a first idea for our game; but first we are going to talk about our name: Broken Ape.

"Apes are primal. We want primal. Ugga-ugga!"

We also considered Jim Panzee, Ape-Team, Darwin's Apes, Apebreed, Affenbrotbaum ... okay, it all went into a similar direction, but hey.. that's us!
Did I already say Ugga-ugga!?

Ugga-ugga!!

The logo is coming up soon. There are a lot of ideas (broken apes, obviously, and maybe some brains and spoons...), and our 2D Graphic Artist will be posting something vicious soon!

Okay, now on to something more professional. We already had a nice brainstorming session for our game, how we want to distribute our work load... and other, secret stuff. Something with bananas...

Our theme for the game (educational focus) is Music.
Our game will be a Role-Playing / Social Adventure Game.

The player will be portraying a young musician at the start of his/her career. The character will live through a lot of conflicts and situations, that are typicial of the Music and Artist environment. We want our game to be very dynamic with a high replay value. You could play a good-looking female singer, a worn-out songwriter who can barely play chords on his guitar or a crazy metal-head.

Speaking about the work load... here's our who's-who!

Take care until next time,
